SOCKTOBER FUN! Join us in helping those less fortunate in our communities by participating in the Student Council’s Sock Drive. On Tuesday and Thursday of this week, students may bring in a pair of new socks or $2 each of those days, and then be able to wear DRESS CODE shorts, skirts or dresses (even though it’s pants season), along with Halloween or crazy socks, if they want to. They must donate for EACH day they would like to participate. If you choose to send money with them instead of socks, we will purchase more items for the homeless shelter.
FANTASY NIGHT IS HERE! Please remember - If you are unable to work the shift you are
assigned, please find a replacement. Thanks for the tremendous support of
this fundraiser!
SATURDAY EVENING MASS TIME CHANGE: Mass will be at 4:00:pm this Saturday October 18th due to Fantasy Night.
ACADEMIC BOWL PRACTICE: Mrs. Burgess will practice with the Academic Bowl students each Monday, after lunch (11:40 am – 12:15 pm). Scrimmages are set for Nov. 10 @ OLOSS & Nov. 17 @ Honey Creek.
SUPERINTENDANT VISITS! Dr Vader will be visiting OLOS School on Thursday, October 30th. We will have MASS that day so no dress down passes will be allowed. We look forward to warmly welcoming her!
SCHOOL WEAR ORDERING NOW OPEN: School dress code shirts, quarter zips and spirit shirts may be ordered now through November 15th with orders arriving by the first week of December for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS CARD: We are one of two schools that was chosen to design a Christmas Card for the Diocese/Chancery Office to use this Christmas season. Three finalists from our school will be picked and submitted to the Diocese. One entry will be selected by the Chancery office. Students will be given time at school to create their cards.
GOOD LUCK TO OUR LADY COUGARS! The volleyball girls will be finishing up their regular season this weekend at Our Lady of Lourdes, Columbia. Next week, they will be participating in the Central Missouri Parochial Athletic League (CMA PAL) Tournament. We wish them good luck as they wind down their season. We are very proud of our Lady Cougars!
DRESS CODE REMINDERS: Per dress code guidelines from the OLOSS Handbook: “Full length pants must be worn October 1 – March 31. Girls may wear navy, black or khaki leggings under appropriate length skirts or jumpers. Mrs. Varner may choose to designate a “short pants” day(s), at her discretion.” Also, remember that students may only wear solid navy, white or khaki sweaters in the classroom or at church. No sweatshirts or hoodies except on the playground/outside. And please remember…ALL LENGTH REQUIREMENTS still apply on Dress Down Days!
COMMUNITY SHIRTS FOR SALE: We have several child sizes medium, large & XL & adult size small royal blue community shirts for sale for $5 each. So, if you need an extra, please send payment and size in a marked envelope.
OCTOBER COUNT: To provide proper pastoral care to parishes, a yearly count is taken during the weekend Masses in the month of October. Please make a point to attend OLOS each weekend in October, if possible, instead of neighboring parishes, to get an accurate count.
Because of your attendance last weekend
at the all school Mass, our count was over 300! Thank you to all who attended.
CEMETERY LIGHTS: The school is accepting donations for the lighting of the cemetery for all Saints/All Souls Day. Last year we placed 1800 lights. Cost per hundred is approximately $35-$40. Please send your donation in a marked envelope. Thank you so very much!
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: As you begin thinking about Halloween costumes for our “Halloween Walk”, please keep in mind that we don’t want to scare any of our little people, so no scary or gory costumes, no fake blood, axes, etc. Let’s keep it light and fun! Please send a bucket or bag for the Trunk or Treat.
TRUNK OR TREAT: We will once again offer a “Trunk or Treat” event for the students on Friday, October 31, as part of their Halloween Walk. If you would like to participate in the Trunk or Treat, please let school office staff know. If someone you know would like to participate, please let them know to plan for approximately 70-75 trick or treaters.
WEEKLY DRESS DOWN PASS WINNER(S)! Congratulations to Jaelyn & Vera for winning this week! Remember – return your folder (with paperwork complete) by Tuesday to be added to the weekly drawing.
