CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 8TH GRADE GRADUATES (& Families), who are being promoted this weekend. They are: Tre, Madelyn, Jacob, Romie, Gus, Nicholas, & Jessi. We sure are going to miss these students – they are a special group! In this transition, we are also saying farewell to some great school families – Mike & Tracie Brandt, John & Christina Eickhoff, & Renae Woodberry. We wish you all the very best!

FIRST EUCHARIST CONGRATULATIONS to Emery – receiving her First Holy Communion this weekend. Emery is one of eleven 2nd graders in our parish celebrating her second Sacrament of Initiation this weekend. Please pray for Emery and for all the 2nd graders that they may continue to grow in their faith.

FIRST SACRAMENT OF INITIATION: We joyfully recognize another one of our students – Brandy in First Grade. On Wednesday, Brandy will be baptized into the Catholic Church, during the School Mass at 8:00 am. We are so proud of Brandy, celebrating this first Sacrament of Initiation!

PRESCHOOL GRADUATES: On Friday, we will be celebrating the Preschoolers who are graduating to Kindergarten next school year. Our little friends graduating on Friday are: Patrick, Sadie, Hattie, Kinsley, Ella, Lilah, Mia, Austin, Cohen, Maelyn, & Millie. We are proud of their accomplishments in preschool!

STEP-UP MORNING – THIS MONDAY, APRIL 28TH: We invite all new preschoolers and any new student to attend the “Step Up” morning, (7:30 am – 9:00 am) which will help orient our new enrollees to the “school experience”. All current students will advance to the next grade for that same period of time to get an idea of what their next school year might be like. If you have not already signed up, please bring your child to the school office first thing Monday morning to check in (before 7:30 am).

FINAL CALL! 2024-25 YEARBOOK ORDERS FORMS were in last week’s folder. If you no longer have your form, you may send in $25 in a marked envelope by the end of the school year (checks payable to OLOS). This is your one and only opportunity to order yearbooks, as the final order is submitted over the summer.

MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS were available last week. If you have not already done so, please follow the directions below to access your child’s report.

3-8 Progress Reports are available online. To access Progress Reports on your family portal - sign in, then follow these steps:

On left, click “Student”

On left, directly under “Student Home” click “Grades”

In upper left screen click “Midterm Progress Report”

If you have more than one student, you can switch between them on the upper left. Please sign the slip enclosed in today’s folder, acknowledging that you reviewed the report. It is a good idea to log in weekly to check grades. This is also a good time to log in any service hours you have performed.

K-2 Progress Reports were in last week’s folder. Look over these and if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the classroom teacher.

RE-ENROLLMENT & APPLICATIONS: Online enrollment for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year is now open. Please take time now to re-enroll your student and make an application for your new student (if applicable). Directions were recently included in the folder, but if you need help, please contact Rosie in the school office. We would like to have all re-enrollment and new student enrollment completed by THIS MONDAY, APRIL 14TH. All submitting the online enrollment packet by that date will receive a BONUS DRESS DOWN PASS for the new school year.

FISHING DAY: Thank you so much to Donnie & Cindy Lepper, for being so gracious in letting us enjoy their beautiful lake for fishing on Friday! We so appreciate it! Also, we wish to thank Darryl for getting the equipment ready ahead of time and of course, to all of our amazing parent drivers. We couldn’t do it without you!

SKETCH DAY RESULTS: The students all did a wonderful job on Sketch Day last week and we are very proud of them! All sketches are on display in our cafeteria. Congratulations to:

SPELLING BEE RESULTS: Congratulations to Madelyn, Romie, Vivian & Magdaline, who participated in the Spelling Bee on Thursday. Though they didn’t place, they tried their hardest, and that’s what counts! We are proud of them! Thanks to Henry & Jessi, who went along as backup and to Monica Bittle and Joan Doerhoff, our wonderful parent drivers.

FIELD DAY NEWS: Field Day is Tuesday, April 29th. We are excited about several of the new activities planned! If you can spend the day (or part of the day) with us, please let Amber Schulte know.

Thank you for any donation you can make!

FISHING DAY: 3rd – 8th Grade Fishing Day at Lepper Lake has been rescheduled to Friday, April 11th, weather permitting, from approximately 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm. We want to be back for Shadow Stations at 2:30 pm. Please make changes to your child’s permission form, which is being returned in the folder today. Students already enjoyed their ice cream treat on Wednesday, the original date of the trip. Parent Drivers – Please pull into parking lot behind gym. No need to enter the building, we will bring the students to you (please try to be parked by 11:45 am) We do have a limited number of fishing rods available for student use. However, if your child has their own, they are encouraged and welcome to bring it, along with any tackle & bait they may have.

As of this printing, we do not have results but will update you in next week’s notes. We know these students represent OLOS School very well! Thanks to our parent drivers – Renae Woodberry & Amber Schulte, and of course to our Sketch Day coordinator, Mrs. Hoecker, for her donation of time & talent!

SPELLING BEE PARTICIPANTS: We wish good luck to our Spelling Bee participants, competing on Thursday at St. Martin’s School. Attending the competition are Madelyn, Romie, Vivian, and Magdaline, along with Jessi & Henry, who are alternates.

FIELD DAY NEWS: Field Day is Tuesday, April 29th. We are excited about several of the new activities planned! Much help will be needed for this event. Please see sign-up sheet for in today’s folder with more information. We have had donations of drinks & snacks for the day.

STUDENTS GRADES 3-8 are expected to attend one of the parish Penance Services. Students will not have an opportunity to go to Confession during the school day (which was originally indicated on the school calendar). Please make every effort to attend with your child.

FATHER SIMON has asked for three Altar Servers for the Holy Thursday Mass @ 6:00 pm & four Altar Servers for the Saturday evening Easter Vigil Mass @ 8:00 pm. Please let the office know if your child will be able to serve either of those times.
