PARENT - TEACHER CONFERENCES: You will find your conference time on a sheet enclosed in this folder.
Please be prompt to your conferences and keep in mind that we are on a very
tight schedule. If you need more than the 15 minutes, please schedule
additional time with the classroom teacher.
FANTASY NIGHT NEWS: We
are just one week away from Fantasy Night. We still have approximately 40 tickets
available. Ticket price is $135. You will find in this folder a list of items
that are needed for the event. If you are able to donate, please send the items
by Thursday. If you are unable to
work the shift you are assigned, please find a replacement. If you know of
any parish members who would be willing to help with Fantasy Night, please let
school office staff know.
Mass Time Change: Mass will be at 4pm on Saturday October 18th
due to Fantasy Night.
HEADS UP FOR A HALF DAY! School will be dismissed at 11:45 am on Friday, October 17th
for Fantasy Night prep. Lunch WILL be served, but there will be NO AFTERNOON
EXTENDED CARE. All students should be picked up by 12:00 noon at the very
latest.
SUPERINTENDANT VISITS! Dr Vader will be visiting OLOS School on Thursday, October 30th.
We will have MASS that day so no dress down passes will be allowed. We look
forward to warmly welcoming her!
CHRISTMAS CARD: We are
one of two schools that was chosen to design a Christmas Card for the Diocese/Chancery
Office to use this Christmas season. Three finalists from our school will be
picked and submitted to the Diocese. One entry will be selected. Students will
be given time at school to create their cards.
ACEDEMIC BOWL: Mrs. Burgess would like
to form an Academic Team. Students in 5th-8th grade are eligible to
participate. Practices will most likely be on Mondays after school. If interested,
please let your child’s teacher know.
AS THE WEATHER COOLS remember
that students may only wear solid navy, white or khaki sweaters in the
classroom or at church. No sweatshirts or hoodies except on the
playground/outside. And please remember…ALL LENGTH REQUIREMENTS still apply on
Dress Down Days!
COMMUNITY SHIRTS FOR SALE: We have several child sizes medium, large & XL & adult size
small royal blue community shirts for sale for $5 each. So, if you need an
extra, please send payment and size in a marked envelope.
SCHOOL SQUIRES: We are wanting to form a group of men who we could call on to help
with upkeep and small tasks around the school and parish campus. (For example,
small playground projects, hanging a clock, door handles, etc.) Please contact
school office staff if you would like to help.
OCTOBER COUNT: To provide proper pastoral care to parishes, a yearly count is
taken during the weekend Masses in the month of October. Please make a point to
attend OLOS each weekend in October, if possible, instead of neighboring
parishes, to get an accurate count.
Because of your attendance last weekend
at the all school Mass, our count was over 300! Thank you to all who attended.
CEMETERY LIGHTS: The
school is accepting donations for the lighting of the cemetery for all
Saints/All Souls Day. Last year we placed 1800 lights. Cost per hundred is
approximately $35-$40. Please send your donation in a marked envelope. Thank
you so very much!
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: As
you begin thinking about Halloween costumes for our “Halloween Walk”, please
keep in mind that we don’t want to scare any of our little people, so no scary
or gory costumes, no fake blood, axes, etc. Let’s keep it light and fun! Please
send a bucket or bag for the Trunk or Treat.
TRUNK OR TREAT: We
will once again offer a “Trunk or Treat” event for the students on Friday,
October 31, as part of their Halloween Walk. If you would like to participate
in the Trunk or Treat, please let school office staff know. If someone you know
would like to participate, please let them know to plan for approximately 70-75
trick or treaters.
There will be
NO SCHOOL on
Monday, October
20th.
Please return your folder on Monday!
Have a fantastic three-day weekend!
