CALLLING ALL MILITARY! All active military and veterans, their families,
and the whole community, are invited to join the school children for a
patriotic rosary on Wednesday, November 11th, Veterans’ Day. We will
begin at 2:15 pm, and meet at the flagpole, weather permitting (alternate site
– gym). Please pass this invitation to family, friends, and neighbors. The
school children will be wearing red/white/blue and camo that day, and all are
invited to do the same, or dress in military attire. We look forward to having
the veterans with us on Veterans’ Day and we thank them for their service to
our country!
COOKIE
DOUGH SALES: OLOS School
is selling cookie dough. We will be doing this to accrue the funds to send all
of our teachers to the NCEA conference, which will be held in St. Louis in the Spring of 2017. This is the
first time in many years that the NCEA conference is so close. We began sales
on Thursday, Nov. 5, and we will end sales on Monday, Nov. 16. Cookie dough
will be delivered, to be picked up by the parents, on Tuesday, December 1st.
ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP – WE HAVE NO FREEZER SPACE TO STORE IT!
COOKIE
DOUGH DELIVERY: We
will need parent help for filling the cookie dough orders when it is delivered
on Tuesday, December 1st. Approximate time for delivery is 12:00 –
1:00 pm. Help will be needed for sorting early and for helping parents find and
check their orders until approximately 5:30. Help during any of this time –
even if it’s just an hour, is greatly appreciated. Please send a note, or call
the office, with your offer to help. Thus far, we have no volunteers.
BASKETBALL PRACTICES:
JV GIRLS PRACTICE begins this Wednesday,
November 11th, after school until 5:30 pm. PARENTS PLEASE REMEMBER
TO WRITE A NOTE FOR YOUR LADY COUGAR TO STAY AFTER SCHOOL FOR ALL PRACTICES. The girls will be practicing every
Wednesday after school and later on Thursday evenings as well, until games
begin. You will find a letter & form to return to your coach, Mark Adrian.
JV BOYS PRACTICE begins this Wednesday,
November 11th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Coaches: Billy Bond, Calvin
Groose, Kevin Beck
FORM/FEE/PHYSICAL: Remember, your child must
have the following three items turned into the office to practice or play
ball: $20 per family/year sports fee,
athletic form, and a physical.
SPORTS
PICTURES: The
volleyball & basketball teams will have their pictures taken (along with
clubs, etc.) on Wed., Nov. 18th. We are in need of a volunteer parent from any of those
teams to help with pictures. You will receive a $25 gift certificate towards
your child’s sports picture. Please contact Rosie in the office if you could
help out. Also, volleyball girls – go ahead and turn in your uniforms with your
name on them, and we will hold them for the team picture. Make sure to send
them back – we want to have the whole team in uniform for the picture.
Basketball uniforms will be assigned next week and held in the office until
picture day. Order forms for team pictures are in today’s folder.
FUNDRAISING MEETING: A Fundraising/Italian Feast meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov.
10, at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
SCHOOL PICTURES are in today’s folder, if
you ordered. If your child needs a retake, please return the ENTIRE package,
noting what you would like to do differently. See enclosed flyer for more
details.
SOCCER: For all who signed up
earlier or have a new interest in the sports program at Hickory Hill
Baptist Church ,
please see the flyer enclosed in today’s folder.
CATHOLIC
SCHOOLS WEEK COMMITTEE: There
will be a meeting on Monday, November 16th, at 6:30 in the
cafeteria. All are welcome! Come with enthusiasm and/or good ideas!
SANTA
STORE: If you have any new or like new items that would
make good gifts, please set to the side for donation to the Santa Store. Most
needed are items for dads and brothers. We will begin the collection closer to
Christmas.
LET’S WIN A FREE PLAYGROUND: Together
Counts is a nationwide program inspiring active and healthy living. This
program offers each year, a sweepstakes for schools to win a free playground. OLOS School
is signed up for this promotion and you can go online and enter each day until
March 2016. It takes only a minute to sign up initially and just a few seconds
each day to submit an entry. Just think how much better our chances will be if
many participate each day. So tell your friends, families, and associates.
Forward this address to everyone, and ask them to help OLOS School
win a new playground! If you do not wish
to be contacted for any other promotions you can deselect those options. Thank
you for your support!

SCHOOL
CANCELLATIONS: In the case of cancellation due to inclement
weather (or any other emergency) you will be contacted via email, phone, and/or
texts, (depending on your personal preferences) through Option C. You will also
find cancellation information on TV stations – Channel 8, Channel 13, &
Channel 17. If school is called off early due to inclement weather there will
be no extended care services.
TUTORING
AVAILABLE: after school, call Marianna Werdehausen @
680-5887 for more information.
DRESS CODE: As we experience colder weather, please be
aware that the dress code colors INCLUDE any undershirt or shirt that shows.
The only acceptable colors for undershirts are YELLOW, BLUE OR WHITE.
MEDICATION
AT SCHOOL: We do not have a “stock supply” of
medications for students. You may choose to send in a pain reliever or other
types of medicine for your child. Make sure to clearly mark the container(s),
and send a note giving staff permission to dispense the medication, with explicit dosage instructions and dosage
cups/spoons. These will be locked up in the office. Sometimes having medicine
available here for your child can mean not having to come after him/her or
making a special trip to bring medications.
.
PROPANE THAT PAYS… This is the time of year when many
people like to fill propane tanks or prepay. If you are or would like to be a
customer of Capital Energy Co, contact them and please mention that you are a
member of OLOS parish. The parish receives a percentage for every gallon the
customer buys.
Have
a fun fall weekend, everyone!
Please
return your folder on MONDAY!
