This was their first win and we are proud of them! The JV Boys won again last night against Trinity, final score 53-16. Wow! The girls JV team took a heartbreaking loss in overtime against the St. Peter’s team, with a final score of 24-26.

Jeanne will be sending in all Box Tops and Best Choice UPC’s by the end of February. Please send in any that you may have accumulated. We appreciate and thank you, Jeanne, for continuing to handle this program for the school.

Many thanks to all who made Catholic Schools Week so wonderful this year. We really appreciate all of the students who performed their ministry assignments so well at the Masses last weekend. The teachers and staff would also like to thank the Fundraising Committee and the Student Council, for the treats on Staff Appreciation Day. Catholic Schools really do “Raise the Standards”. A special thanks to Debbie Schulte (Aubrey Schulte’s grandmother, PK) for helping out on Friday with the student’s refreshments. We really appreciate your help!

Calling all room parents! We are counting on you once again to organize the games and refreshments for the Valentine’s parties on Thursday, February 14th. The parties will begin at 2:00 pm. Feel free to ask any student’s parent to send refreshments and any needed items for the party.

SCIENCE FAIR – FEBRUARY 15TH - OLOS School will participate in the Science Fair. All students in grades 3rd through 8th will be required to do a project, which will be part of their science grade. Students in grades 6th through 8th will also be required to submit a paper with their project. Students in 6th, 7th, & 8th grades will be eligible to compete in the diocesan fair and should make their project in one of the three categories of Life, Physical or Earth Science. We highly encourage all students to work individually; however, if two students work together they must be in the same grade. The OLOS Science Fair is scheduled for February 15, 2013. Winners from OLOS will compete at the Diocesan Science Fair on March 9, 2013. YOU HAVE RECEIVED SCIENCE FAIR PACKET GUIDELINES. DO NOT THROW THIS AWAY – YOU WILL NEED THIS AS A REFERENCE TOOL!! Students must run an actual experiment and follow closely the Scientific Method, as outlined in the packet. DISPLAY BOARDS ARE $4 EACH. YOU MAY SEND PAYMENT FOR YOURS IN A MARKED ENVELOPE & THE BOARD WILL BE SENT HOME ON FRIDAY (UNLESS OTHER ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE).

Beef Sticks are Back! Students can purchase beef sticks during lunch for $1 each. If you would like a box of 30 sent home, the price is $30. All profits go to the school. Thank you for your support!

OLOS Preschool is now accepting applications for the 2013-14 school year. We have had several inquiries about preschool services for the upcoming school year and have a pre-registration list in the office. If you or anyone you know are interested, please contact the school office NOW at 573-498-3574. Pre-registration forms may be found in today’s folder for all with a known interest.

Remember – once your child earns the 75 point Reading Counts T-shirt, he/she may wear it at any time in lieu of their regular dress code collared shirt.

In the event of inclement weather, when school may have to dismiss early, there will be NO EXTENDED CARE SERVICES available. All students should be picked up at the dismissal time which would be announced with the dismissal notification.

The Jericho March, which begins the 40 Days for Life campaign, will be held on February 10th at 3:00 pm. This march will be held around Planned Parenthood, 711 Providence Rd., Columbia, MO. Please consider attending this event as a witness to your belief in the sacredness of life.
