HEALTH SCREENINGS: Thank you to our volunteers, Raegan Wiser and Emily Schulte and the Miller County Health Department for assisting our students with their Health Screenings.
GRANDPARENTS DAY: We will celebrate Grandparents Day on Wednesday Sept 16th beginning with Mass at 8:00 am. After Mass we will all enjoy refreshments and an activity. The Book Fair will also be open for students and grandparents to go through.
HOME & SCHOOL: Our 1st Home and School meeting is Monday Sept 14th at 6 pm. We will begin with a potluck dinner, followed by the meeting. We will have a Fantasy Night planning meeting right after the Home and School Meeting. The Book Fair will also be open during the meeting. Just a heads up, the gym will not be available for students that evening. The area is being used for another meeting.
BOOKFAIR: The book fair will kick off at the Home and School meeting Monday, September 14th at 6 pm. Kids will also be able to shop during lunch September 15th-18th along with Grandparents Day. The book fair will be located in the school cafeteria.
GOOD LUCK to our Lady Cougar Volleyball Team. They will be playing their first home games on Thursday, September 17th at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. We are pleased that our cheer squad will be onsite to cheer them on to victory!
CHEERl Thank you to Olivia Lepper and Lacey Berendzen for volunteering their time to coach the girls. Our 1st cheer practice will be on Monday, September 14th from 3:30- 4:45. Olivia has offered to stay until the Home and School meeting if anyone cannot be here to pick up their child. The girls will cheer Thursday September 17th, at 6:00 pm. GO COUGARS!
FANTASY NIGHT: A huge shoutout to Jena Schwaller and Olivia Lepper for agreeing to oversee Fantasy Night and all the planning of this event. This is a big task to take on and we appreciate the two of you!! If you see them around, please be sure to thank them. If you would like to be on the Fantasy Night Planning Committee, or just to see what it’s about, please stay for the meeting after Home and School.
STUDENT COUNCIL INFO for grades 4-8 was in last week’s folder. Reminder that the essays are due Tuesday, September 15th. We are excited to see what new plans the Student Council will come up with for this school year. Thanks to Mrs. Groose for being the coordinator for this group.
OUTDOOR RECESS WEATHER PROCEDURES: Student safety is our priority when determining whether outdoor recess will be held. The school will use the “feels like” temperature reported by the National Weather Service or another reliable weather source when making decisions about outdoor recess.
Outdoor recess will not be held when the “feels
like” temperature is:
·
90° F or higher due to excessive heat
·
Below 32° F due to cold temperatures
When the “feels like” temperature is between 32°
F and 89° F, students may participate in their
regularly scheduled 30-minute outdoor recess, provided that other weather
conditions are safe.
DEADLINE FOR FRIDAY NOTES: Wednesday, 9:00 am. If you have items for the Friday notes, please write these items, send them in, or email to rbeck@olosschool.org & amberschulte@olosschool.org. All non-school related flyers need to be copied ahead of time on paper. Upon approval by the principal, the information will then be placed in the Friday folder as a courtesy.
FACEBOOK: Be watching for Facebook posts as we get the year going. We have already posted several times. It’s a great way to keep up with our days here at OLOS.
CEMETERY LIGHTS: The school is accepting donations for the lighting of the cemetery for all Saints/All Souls Day. Last year we placed 1800 lights. Cost per hundred is approximately $35- $40. Please send your donation in a marked envelope. Thank you so very much!
