VALENTINE’S DAY THANKS! Thank you so very much to all of our fantastic room parents who make our classroom parties so much fun! We never have a worry because we know that with your planning, all the details are taken care of – all for the love of our students. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you – our wonderful school families!
HOLY DAY MASS: Please note that this Wednesday, Feb. 18th, all school staff will be attending the Ash Wednesday Holy Day Mass. If you are dropping your child off after 7:55, please bring them directly to church.
SIBLING SERVICE REMINDER: Sibling service was started for drop in occasions if another sibling has an activity after school (sports practice, Student Council, etc.). We have extended this service for archery students, allowing them to stay in extended care until archery practice starts. If your child is staying in sibling service, you are to pay $2 when you pick up your child, otherwise we will document it as regular extended care and you will be charged $7 at the end of the month. Hopefully, this clears up any confusion about sibling service. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office.
ILLNESS: We have had a lot of students out for different sicknesses over the last couple weeks. As reminder, your child must be FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS (without medication) before they can return to school.
VIP DAY: Very Important Person Day will be held on Wednesday, March 4th. We will start with Mass at 8 am followed by refreshments in the gym. More details to come.
KOMU8: KOMU8 Television Station was here last week to record our students for the pledge portion of the morning news. We don’t’ know when it will air; we will let you know details as they become available.
RICE BOWL: In today’s folder you will find a “Rice Bowl” kit. Use the daily calendar and rice bowl as a tool to pray, fast and give. Your Lenten alms help people experiencing hunger and poverty in your local community and in other countries. Please turn these in on Easter weekend at Church.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Each Friday during Lent (at 2:30 pm) all students will be attending and providing the ministry for the Stations. We invite you to attend if you are able. If you will be signing your child out afterwards, please let us know ahead so that they can bring their backpack along to church. All Stations will be at Church.

Friday, Feb. 27 – (5/6 Ministry) Stations of the Cross according to Mary

LENTEN
OBLIGATIONS:
Abstinence
All who have celebrated their 14th birthday are bound to abstain from
meat on Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent and Good Friday.
Fasting
Everyone, from the celebration of their 18th birthday to their 59th
birthday, is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting means
eating only one full meal each day. Two other partial meals, sufficient to
maintain strength, may be taken; but together they should not equal another
full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed. Voluntary
fasting on other weekdays of Lent is highly recommended.
When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, neither the law of fasting nor the law of abstinence obliges. These are minimal penitential practices and should not be lightly excused. If in doubt, please consult your parish priest. Other recommended forms of fasting, as regards to (adult beverages) drinks, needless television, video games, Internet use, and social entertainment, are of true spiritual value and strongly encouraged.
Almsgiving
The act of giving to the poor, in the most ancient tradition of the Church,
is an expression of penance, a witness of fraternal charity, and an expression
of Lenten conversion. Catholics are encouraged to support generously the
charitable works of the whole Church: through regular stewardship to their
parish and support of charities.
Prayer
To deepen one’s love for Christ, Catholics are urged to participate in the
sacramental life of the Church during Lent by attending daily Mass and
frequenting the sacrament of Reconciliation.
