STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING the Reading Counts trip will have a normal day of school, with a teacher in attendance. Students will be responsible for all assignments as part of their grade.

WE CONGRATULATE our nine 2^nd graders, receiving their First Eucharist at the 10:00 Mass this Sunday. They are: Alyssa Evers, Camden Kempker, Leah Koetting, Trenton Lage, Adam Schulte, Braden Schulte, Gracie Silvey, Rylee Vandike, & Avery Wood. Please pray for these students as they celebrate this most important milestone in their young Catholic lives.

WEDNESDAY EVENING there will be a school/parish clean-up, (before the Bishop is here for Confirmation, graduation, etc.). It will begin @ 6:00 pm. Please bring all gardening tools. Many hands make light work!

MRS. MARIE IS RETIRING! OLOS School will host a retirement party for Mrs. Marie on Thursday, May 17^th, at approximately 2:15 pm. Please show your appreciation to Mrs. Marie for her years of service to OLOS School. We will miss her greatly!

  

FIELD DAY: OLOSS will have a field day the morning of Wednesday, May 17^th. This will be a dress down day and it should be a fun day for the students to end up the school year. Students will be treated to a special picnic lunch – grilled hot dogs, chips, and an ice-cream treat (a treat from an anonymous parishioner!). Sack lunch students will have the option to purchase lunch that day.

UNPAID FEES: Final grade cards (and transfer of records, graduation diplomas) will only be issued to students whose fees are paid in full. This includes, but is not limited to: sustaining fees, lost library books fees, preschool and extended care fees, school support, lunch fees, rule violation fees, lost textbook fees, etc. YOU WILL FIND A REMINDER IN TODAY’S FOLDER IF YOU HAVE ANY FEES THAT STILL NEED PAID.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: The last day of school for the 2016-17 school year will be Thursday, May 18^th. This will be a half-day of school, dismissing at 12:00 Noon. Lunch will be served but extended care   WILL NOT be offered. The AWARDS CEREMONY will be at 9:30 am.

PRESCHOOL & MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER NEEDED: Our Lady of Snows Catholic School is seeking a Preschool Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. Interested applicants are asked to contact Josh Vandike at 498-3574.

8^TH GRADE GRADUATION DRESS CODE:  Boys – dress pants, collared shirt, dress shoes, tie is optional; Girls – dresses, no more than two inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps showing (may wear shawl to cover). Students will be wearing cap/gown through Mass and throughout the awards ceremony & for pictures.

READING COUNTS NEWS: IF YOUR CHILD QUALIFIED, HE/SHE BROUGHT HOME A DRIVER/PARENT PARTICIPATION FORM ON WEDNESDAY. From what we have received so far, we do not have nearly enough drivers, but many have not been returned. Please RETURN THESE ON MONDAY! (If we don’t have yours, another can be found in this folder.) The date for the Reading Counts field trip is set for Monday, May 8, 2017, a state worker holiday. Plans for the Lake Ozark area include enjoying a movie that we provide (must pass Catholic guidelines) at the Lodge of Four Season in the morning (all grades), a picnic lunch (provided by the lunch room, with option for sack lunch students to purchase as well) at the Funny Farm for all, then splitting up in the afternoon. The PK – 2 grades will be staying at the Funny Farm petting zoo, and the 3-8 grades will be playing Lazer Tag. If it happens to be a rainy afternoon, the PK-2 will come back to school for fun & games instead.  Of course, for those staying at the Funny Farm, please dress appropriately for the weather. All students should wear tennis shoes on this trip. There will be no cost for students for this trip, but parents attending the Funny Farm will need to pay $8 for entrance (at the farm). EXCEPTION:  IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD WANTS TO OPT FOR A POPCORN/DRINK COMBINATION AT THE LODGE– WHICH WILL BE $5 CASH (this will be a can of soda/small bag popcorn (4 c.). We must have popcorn/soda money ahead, as they will be preparing ONLY WHAT WE PREORDER. Early next week we will get the permission forms ready, so be expecting them, and you will also be able to place your $5 cash to this form. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS COMING HOME AND FOLLOW ALL STEPS. THIS IS A BIG TRIP & VERY HARD TO COORDINATE SINCE WE HAVE SO MANY DRIVERS. PLEASE RETURN ALL FORMS AS THEY ARE REQUESTED. THANK YOU!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SKETCH DAY PARTICIPANTS who made a great showing for our school. 2^nd place winners were Kayla Bond and Devin Haeffner. 3^rd place winners were Hannah Evers & Gracie Evers. Other participants were Gavin Wood, Sara Beck, Tori Evers, Elizabeth Kliethermes & Macy Adrian. All did a very good job and we are proud of you! If you have an opportunity to visit school, their pictures are on display in the school cafeteria.

EGG HUNT THIS WEDNESDAY! We are planning our annual Easter Egg Hunt for students this Wednesday, April 12^th. Each family should send in one dozen candy-filled plastic eggs for each child in school in grades PK-6^th – in a bag marked with your child’s name. The 7^th & 8^th graders will be hiding the eggs for the classes, so you may remember them with some treats as well. Please do not fill eggs with chocolate or anything that would melt. We also have students with peanut allergies so we ask that no peanut products be sent. PLEASE SEND THESE INTO THE CLASSROOM ON MONDAY!. Thanks so much!

REGISTRATION PACKETS: Registration packets for the 2017-18 school year will be sent home in your Friday folder next Wednesday. THEY ARE DUE BACK TO THE OFFICE ON MONDAY, APRIL 24^TH, THE DAY WE RETURN FROM EASTER BREAK. THIS WILL BE DRESS DOWN DAY FOR ALL FAMILIES COMING IN WITH THEIR COMPLETED PACKETS IN HAND.

LOOKING AHEAD: Since there will be no notes going home on Wednesday, due to the short week, please pay attention to the calendar, with Sketch Day, 5-8 Field trips, & 4-6 Track & Field Day all occurring the last week of the month.

SPELLING BEE PARTICIPANTS; The Spelling Bee students did a great job. There were 16 schools participating this year, so it was a pretty good competition.   Great job to Deanna Backes, Emma Goetz, Garet Wood, Bella Groose, Aly Haeffner, Ethan Schulte, Jordan Bittle, Grace Groose, Sarray Schulte, Macy Adrian, Sara Beck, Gracie Evers, Kayla Bond, Devin Haeffner, & Gavin Wood. Special recognition goes to Sara Beck, 7^th grade, for placing third in her grade category. Way to go, Sara!

FUN & FITNESS! The 4^th, 5^th, & 6^th graders will be participating in Track & Field Day at Cole R-V on Friday, April 28^th. Cole R-V invited OLOSS, Immanuel Lutheran, Honeycreek, Russellville & Tuscumbia schools to participate in this day-long event. Sounds like good fun and we thank them for the invitation!

ATTENTION 8^TH GRADE PARENTS: Freshman Orientation will take place at Cole R-V High School on April 26^th, from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, beginning in the Performing Arts Center.

CINNAMON ROLLS! Please support the cinnamon roll fundraiser on Sunday sponsored by the youth in our parish attending the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indiana this fall. Stop in for a roll, some coffee, and fellowship!

8^th GRADE PICTURES: The date for 8^th grade pictures has been set for Friday, April 7^th, with a rainout date of Friday, April 28^th. The permission form is in today’s folder. Please return on Monday. Thanks to Kim Evers & Stacey Evers for volunteering to drive. The students will go to the Capitol/Governor’s Gardens first, go to Runge, then eat at Pizza Hut (or vice-versa, as time allows). If your 8^th grader has a special prop (hat, basketball, baseball bat, scarf, jacket, helmet, etc.) they can bring it along for pictures. Each eighth grader should send in 8 pictures from home for the slide show, from babyhood progressing up to present day, marked in order. Please send these to the office by Monday April 10^th. STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Each Friday during Lent, the students will be attending Stations at 2:15. If you (or grandparents) are attending, and would like to leave from church with your child, please send a note so that they can bring their bookbag with them to church.

CRS RICE BOWL:  The Rice Bowl you received a few weeks ago can be utilized as a Lenten tool to devote our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving to transform the lives of those most in need. There is a Lenten calendar inside, videos available, and also an app to get Lenten inspiration right on your phone. You will find information about all these things inside the Bowl. PRAYER. FAST. GIVE.

CINNAMON ROLLS! Today, in this folder, you will find order forms for a cinnamon roll fundraiser sponsored by the youth in our parish attending the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indiana this fall. Please support their fundraising efforts by returning the form, with payment, in this folder to the office. We will pass your order on to those in charge. Thank you!

SCIENCE FAIR NEWS: Good luck to Alex Evers & Sarray Schulte, representing OLOS School in the diocesan Science Fair this Friday, March 31^st at Taos. Alex & Sarray will represent OLOS School very well!

We will need drivers for these fifteen students – we have one driver so far (Tracey Backes).  Please contact the office with your offer to drive that day. SPIRIT DAY: The Spirit Day for March will be this Tuesday, March 29^th. If you wear the school sponsored spirit shirt, then you may dress down in jeans or shorts. All length requirements are still in force.

8^th GRADE PICTURES: The date for 8^th grade pictures has been set for Friday, April 7^th, with a rainout date of Friday, April 28^th. Thanks to Kim Evers who will be taking the pictures.  The students usually take pictures in the morning, and then enjoy lunch together at a restaurant of their choice. Parents are welcomed to go along, as well, and/or join them for lunch. Kim Evers has also offered to put together the slide show and we are grateful for that as well. Each eighth grader should send in 8 pictures, from babyhood progressing up to present day, marked in order. Please send these to the office by Monday April 10^th. WE WILL NEED DRIVERS FOR PICTURE DAY, SO PLEASE SEND A NOTE TO THE OFFICE IF YOU CAN DRIVE THAT DAY, ALONG WITH HOW MANY YOU CAN HAUL.

8^TH GRADE GRADUATION DRESS CODE:  Boys – dress pants, collared shirt, dress shoes, tie is optional; Girls – dresses, no more than two inches above the knee, no spaghetti straps showing (may wear shawl to cover). Students will be wearing cap/gown through Mass and throughout the awards ceremony & for pictures.

CAP & GOWN FEES: 8^th grade parents, please find in today’s folder the cap & gown form. Please return by Monday, April 10^th. Thank you.

 READING COUNTS NEWS: The date for the Reading Counts field trip is tentatively set for Monday, May 8, 2017, a state worker holiday. Plans are being made now for this trip, so if you have any good ideas, please contact Mr. Vandike. We are considering a movie, Lazer Tag, Funny Farm petting zoo, bowling, etc. We will need MANY DRIVERS for this trip, so please save the date! The Reading Counts 200 point deadline is Monday, April 24th.

SCRIP: SCRIP orders for physical gift card orders are placed on the 3^rd weekend of each month.  If you would like to order SCRIP gift cards you can place your order forms with payment in the collection basket at Mass or you can return your order form with payment with your Friday folder on Monday morning.  Orders will be taken to the Parish office.  Gift cards can then be sent home with your child or picked up at the Parish office.  There are also SCRIP cards available in stock in the Parish office.  If you have any problems getting cards, or have any questions, please call the Parish office or you can call Brittany Goetz at 573-291-8246.

ATTENTION 8^TH GRADE PARENTS: Freshman Orientation will take place at Cole R-V High School on April 26^th, from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, beginning in the Performing Arts Center. We have been in contact with Luke Morris about visiting our students at OLOS, and when he sets a date with us, we will let you know. Sometimes, parents wish to be here for that meeting with the counselor.

BEST CHOICE: We are 200 labels short of a submission of Best Choice labels. Please send any in that you may have on hand. Thanks for participating in this and the Box Tops program!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Each Friday during Lent, the students will be attending Stations at 2:15. If you (or grandparents) are attending, and would like to leave from church with your child, please send a note so that they can bring their bookbag with them to church.

CRS RICE BOWL:  The Rice Bowl you received a few weeks ago can be utilized as a Lenten tool to devote our prayers, fasting, and almsgiving to transform the lives of those most in need. There is a Lenten calendar inside, videos available, and also an app to get Lenten inspiration right on your phone. You will find information about all these things inside the Bowl. PRAYER. FAST. GIVE.

CINNAMON ROLLS! Today, in this folder, you will find order forms for a cinnamon roll fundraiser sponsored by the youth in our parish attending the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indiana this fall. Please support their fundraising efforts by returning the form, with payment, in this folder to the office. We will pass your order on to those in charge. Thank you!

 LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: The last day of school for the 2016-17 school year will be Thursday, May 18^th. This will be a half-day of school, dismissing at 12:00 Noon. Lunch will be served but extended care   WILL NOT be offered. The AWARDS CEREMONY will be at 9:30 am.

FIELD DAY: OLOSS will have a field day the morning of Wednesday, May 17^th. This will be a dress down day and it should be a fun day for the students to end up the school year!
